“Walton delivers a nostalgic collection of love and heartache…”

Chris Walton is a singer/songwriter/producer. His music is a blend of classic Soul, Jazz, and Funk with a modern aesthetic. Chris is equally comfortable writing intimate introspective love songs or upbeat retro pop bangers. He released his three-song EP, “Fade,” in February 2021. He then dropped his debut album Ruminating Thoughts in January 2023. Following its release, Chris embarked on an east coast tour starting in Nashville and ending in Boston, MA.

Walton grew up in Waterloo Iowa, and originally attended the University of Northern Iowa to study classical composition. After a professor suggested he switch majors, Chris realized that maybe it was time for something and somewhere new. He enrolled in the Berklee College of Music to study Songwriting, graduated, and currently lives in Boston, MA. He spends his time between Boston and Nashville, where he just recorded his first album.

“One of the cool things about listening to indie artists like me, is we can make the music we want to hear. The only people influencing the music I make are other musicians.” — Chris

HOT OFF THE PRESS

Intimate, heartrending, and achingly soulful, ‘Ruminating Thoughts’ is a beautiful, relatable collection of reflections on everyday life. Walton magnifies the little things, taking life’s passing moments with a fresh lens that helps us see the warmth, the wonder, and the beauty all around us.
— Mitch Mosk, Atwood Magazine
‘Whatcha Say’ is a fantastic track about breakups on its own, but it sounds even better if you listen to the entire three-part, genre-bending love story told on Chris Walton’s EP.
— Lea Tatoris, GBH
Walton effortlessly displays the wide range in his vocals while paying homage to influences such as Sade, John Mayer and Lauryn Hill.
— Andrew Bourque, Allston Pudding
The album [Ruminating Thoughts] mixes Walton’s smart, tender singer-songwriter impulses with classic soul, ’80s r&b and indie folk. The exact genre can’t be pinned down thanks to Walton’s talent for inserting complex elements into simple songs – a dreamy, jazzy break in “I Was Wrong”; an (almost) classical bit of guitar finger picking on “Give It Time”; Fleetwood Mac homages in ‘Soon.’
